Set on a ridge that overlooks a gully and the ocean, this house renovation in Sydney’s northern beaches breathes new life into this family home. It provides a seamless indoor/outdoor lifestyle integrating itself with the backyard and pool. It takes full advantage of the views and provides a very calm house for the family.

  • MORE
  • Built in the late 1970s, the existing house was quite boxy and didn't take full advantage of the site, the views or the connection of the house to the rear yard. The Clients brief was to open up the house to be more open plan, have a strong connection with a new pool, to take better advantage of the views, to have a Master Suite that also took advantage of the views and bring more light into the back of the house.

  • Responding to the open plan request, the kitchen, dining and living areas are all open plan arranged in an L-shape. Responding to the request for a strong connection to a new pool, we made sure that the kitchen, dining, living, outdoor living, lawn and pool entry were all on the one level so their integration was seamless. Responding to the request to take better advantage of the view, we oriented the house towards the view with large windows that give an uninterrupted view, including the Master Suite. We also ensured that every room was bright and naturally lit.

  • The Clients love their newly renovated home. It has changed their lives for the better. In the Client's own words: "It's certainly a very calm house. The home the Architect has helped us create here has given us our dream lifestyle. We can't imagine living anywhere else."

  • This was the most collaborative project we have worked on. With input from the Clients, a Project Consultant (a builder friend of theirs), the actual Builder of the house and the Structural Engineer, we managed to achieve a great result for the Clients. With this project, everybody felt like they were on the same page with the same end goal being to make the best house for the Clients to support their lifestyle. It really was a group effort and the house is better because of it. We give full compliments to the entire team that worked on this project.
