The Garage Sale Trail idea is simple. By organising communities around Australia to hold garage sales on the same day we aim to promote REUSE, minimize waste, enable new neighbourly connections, provide a platform for fundraising and inspire creativity in communities across Australia.

  • Garage Sale Trail is a national grass roots environmental education program and champion of the REUSE movement. We believe that sustainability is best when its fun and social and when it starts in your own backyard. The idea is simple. By organising communities around Australia to hold garage sales on the same day we aim to promote REUSE, minimize waste, enable new neighbourly connections, provide a platform for fundraising and inspire creativity in communities across Australia. The first ever Garage Sale Trail happened in Bondi Beach in 2010 and was a big success. Today it is an idea supported by 164 Councils, 7 State Government, the Federal Government and 350,000 Australians.
