  • CHALLENGE
  • SOLUTION
  • Our brief was to create a retail environment drawing inspiration from the client's love of simple elegant gallery style spaces. The client had an affiliation with minimalist Japan and we set out to create a space that reflected that in form. The sculptural centrepiece clothing rack is the main design feature of the new store. It is conceptually modelled from the 'golden ratio' in plan and then elevated in into a three-dimensional form and its shape guides the customer's journey and experience through the store. We have also created a series of variable height jewellery display boxes, rolling mirrors and custom designed mannequin light frames.

  • We designed the project using 3DS Max and created a series of photorealistic renderings which confirmed to us the design intent. Technology enabled us to then accurately dissect the model into (16) radial setouts (pieces) that was then combined into 4 main sections of radially formed stainless steel that were dowelled together and then conceal bolted to the floor. We used technology to assist in the design process and we sought to stretch the boundaries of material construction and composition to create a singular form that had been transformed from it''s original product intent, which was a 75mm diameter pipe.
