Vent-A-Roof is the first and only roof ventilation system in Australia designed to be completely concealed under traditional metal roof flashings whilst having best-in-class ventilation qualities. The unique system blends architectural style, real world benefits to energy efficiency and offers a variety of solutions to the national construction code.

  • For far too long, ventilation in Australia has been an afterthought. However, living trends continue to change and alter over time and as such, ventilation has become more and more paramount. Ventilation is one of the only ways to both increase energy efficiency and manage condensation, two of Australia’s primary concerns in the construction industry, highlighted by the regular national construction code changes to reflect the importance to change the way we build in Australia. Vent-A-Roof couples a solution based approach to these issues in the most architecturally attractive way, leaving rooflines unhindered, seamless and completely weatherproof.

  • In designing Vent-A-Roof, multiple parts needed to be considered? How can maximum ventilation be achieved? How easy can it be installed? Are there other considerations such as installing in cyclonic or bushfire areas? And finally, can this all be achieved whilst adhering to an ever-changing construction code without impeding the natural look of a metal roof? Taking conventional commercial ridge vent technology, Vent-A-Roof was able to convert the same principles into an easy to install, all encompassing, code fulfilling product primarily for use in residential homes but with light commercial and shed ventilation capabilities.

  • The overall impact of a product such as Vent-A-Roof has a very broad scope, given it’s unique ability to be used in a variety of building applications and the corresponding environmental benefits. Primarily, ventilating your roof improves the overall energy efficiency of your structure. This is specifically prevalent in homes with ducted air conditioning when cool ducted air passes through hot roof spaces. Not only does this mean the air conditioner needs to use less energy to produce the same result, it also needs to be run less as the overall living space temperature is reduced.

  • Why not whirlybirds? For every 1.9M of ridge where Vent-A-Roof is installed, the equivalent airflow is produced. Whilst each roof line is different, Vent-A-Roof has the ability to ventilate much higher volumes of air, whilst remaining passive, and without cutting a hole in the roof which can lead to water leak issues. Vent-A-Roof is also BAL12.5-40 rated (bushfire rating), is able to be installed on flat roofs, is cyclone rated for use in all wind categories in Australia and is easy to install. Whilst these are all important product features, where it shines is as a NCC solution. In NCC2022 mandatory ventilation standards were introduced to the colder climates in Australia as a means to mitigate condensation issues. In most cases, Vent-A-Roof is almost 4 X the minimum requirement of ventilation per metre, making Vent-A-Roof not only the most attractive ventilation product on the market, but also the market leading solution for the NCC. Announced in the NCC 2025 draft in May 2024, these standards are set to expand into other parts of Australia, expanding the requirement to all of SA, NSW, VIC, TAS, most of WA and west Brisbane.
