  • Traditional shopping trolleys and baskets are cumbersome, unhygienic, and environmentally unsustainable-leading to crushed produce, awkward handling, and increased single-use plastic. Marketday identified a need for a more user-friendly, modular solution that supports diverse shopping journeys, active transport, and responsible consumer behaviour. The challenge was to create a system that is lightweight yet robust, ergonomic for all ages, easy to store and repair, and visually appealing. It also had to address post-pandemic hygiene concerns and fit seamlessly into existing retail and market environments, while supporting a shift toward sustainability and community-focused living.

  • Marketday’s solution is a world-first modular shopping cart and basket system. The lightweight aluminium cart features large, all-terrain wheels and a compact, foldable frame. The world's first three-tier Insulated, removable baskets keep goods fresh and can be used separately or docked to accommodate bigger loads. The system is designed for durability, repairability, and easy cleaning, with minimal, recyclable packaging. User-centric features include ergonomic handles, a coffee holder, and smooth-rolling wheels for effortless mobility. The design is inclusive, visually appealing, and supports both personal and shared use, making it ideal for markets, grocers, and everyday transport needs.

  • Marketday delivers lasting impact for users, retailers, and the environment. It encourages walking and active lifestyles, reduces the need for single-use plastics, and lowers carbon emissions by replacing car trips with local shopping. The repairable, recyclable design extends product lifespan and reduces waste. Retailers benefit from improved hygiene, reduced congestion, and enhanced customer experience. Marketday’s inclusive, community-driven approach fosters social connection and supports local economies. As a female-led, Australian innovation, it sets a new benchmark for responsible, user-centred design and inspires positive change in retail mobility and sustainability.
