  • The simple box design is modern & functional for both servers & consumers with a large opening allowing for easy filling & consumption. The design gives the impression of the meal portion being generous in nature as it is lower & wider than previous packaging, while the attached lid simplifies the number of packaging items required. Displaying graphics of seasonal produce which can be updated with seasonal changes reinforces SumoSalads quality food offering & the environmental statement on the side embodies the brand positioning & engages the consumer.

  • Available in 3 sizes the box contains the same volume as previous packaging & the rectangular shape allows for salads to be loaded sided by side ensuing no mix of salads. This was a key component of the customers brief. The PLA lining & web corners means condiments won't leak or absorb into packaging, this is an improvement on previous packaging & a key component of the customers brief. The box is more stable than previous packaging when transporting, allowing customers to easily hold it in one hand & consume on the go, this is another key component of the customers brief. The attached lid is secured with three clip tabs to prevent the content from spilling & enables stacking without warping or collapsing.

  • Utilising an existing design we made key changes to functionality, material & aesthetics to create a unique & original product. Design of the corner folds & placement of graphics enables the corner folds to be hidden resulting in continuous flow of artwork. Corrugated brown kraft liner board with PLA lining has been used, making this product one of the most sustainable branded items in the foodservice market. A hydrophobic coating on the exterior results in a matte finish reinforcing the rustic & eco brand positioning. This also eliminates the possibility of oily & wet contamination on the outside of the box. This is an improvement on previous packaging which couldn't be printed & showed marks easily.

  • The Box has been printed & manufactured to the highest quality in our BRC & ISO9001 accredited facility. The exterior print is a 179 line screen using digital plate technology & colour management systems to achieve clear & bright final print on brown kraft. A hydrophobic coating on the exterior of the packaging is to ensure carton integrity & avoid unsightly contamination through product handling. The matte finish reinforces the environmental positioning. The environmental statement is easy for the end users to understand, supporting the customer's environmental goals.

The box design represents the customer's values on sustainability both material & production. By using one packaging product (rather than a base & lid) time & money is saved throughout supply chain. It is also less labour intensive & allows for quicker food service instore. This results in happy users improving brand perception. The box meets the customer's sustainability goals, thereby demonstrating to their customers their commitment to the environment. The customer's previous packaging was moulded pulp with embossed unprinted branding. The transition to a completely covered high graphic print has increased brand visibility due to bright & recognisable graphics, unique in both design & print.
