Create a piece of "furniture" suited to both corporate towers and urban street corners that collect dirty containers participating in a reuse system. Prevent co-mingled waste by only accepting participating vessels. Share live data to the cloud to manage returnable assets for customers and system personnel. Design the bin in segments, isolating technical components and controlling access for stakeholders. The more expensive the bin the lower the participation due to fewer deployments and return point inconvenience. Design bins to be built at low cost, making it easier to deploy more bins for consumer convenience and market adoption.

Rotational moulding the bin frame unlocked manufacturing simplicity and was suitable to targeted deployments. It offers the ability to water fill for appropriate locations e.g. outdoor events, and to nest for transport. Positioning most hardware to be attached to the backside of the faceplate made for serviceability. Building this faceplate from polycarbonate allowed for antenna to be attached directly in an ideal location. Space to position all componentry was challenging when you had to prioritise the location of key features on the front of the same panel. Height, shape, messaging, sound, light, all participating to communicate intent with minimal instructions.

Reuse in the cafe/hospitality space is notoriously tricky. The Borrow Bin is the unlock for legitimate adoption of reuse and we've begun to see this take hold as it rolls out.By offering a turnkey solution addressing each element of reuse, we've been able to address the myriad concerns industry and consumers face.
