  • MORE
  • Sirius was created after extensive research visits to care facilities and conversations with occupational therapists, nurses, carers, aged care facility managers and end-users revealed two common issues in the assistive technology bedroom: the need to change products as a user’s condition advanced and sterile, medical products. The challenge: • Create an adjustable bed that had the capability to move with a client as they transition from low to high care needs, without carers or facilities needing to purchase a new bed. • Create a fully functional, safe and clinical adjustable bed that doesn’t look like it belongs in a hospital

  • Sleeptite spent three years working with engineers, designers, and contract manufacturers from around the world to design Sirius. One bed, that can be set to any height between 200mm – 750mm (measurement based on floor to top of bed surface) allowing care givers and healthcare staff easy access to provide treatment and safe transfers, while also adding to the aesthetic of the user’s bedroom environment. Alongside the extensive height range and functionality, optional extras are able to be retrofit at any time, ensuring Sirius will remain a suitable option for users, regardless of their care requirements.

  • Sirius is a registered medical device (TGA) that meets all safety and risk requirements for both the user and carer without turning the user’s bedroom into a sterile or hospital feeling environment, assisting in the daily treatment of a user’s mental health and wellbeing while also caring for their physical health and the carers safety. Sirius’s features are suitable for both low and high care requirements meaning a new adjustable bed won’t need to be purchased by facilities or carers as users progress to different care needs. This provides tangible financial benefits to both facilities and home care recipients alike.

  • Bedroom furniture in the accessible needs sector has been focused solely on the medical care required, leading to products which leave environments feeling sterile, more like hospital rooms than homes and this has an ongoing impact on the health and wellbeing of the person living in the space. The environment in which you exist has a direct relationship with your mental health, which in turn impacts overall health outcomes. It can influence your sleep health, mood, behaviour, motivation and stress levels and in some cases your immune system and physical health. Existing adjustable beds are split into two categories – consumer beds with limited functionality, resulting in the need to change the bed as a user’s needs progress (which has financial implications and a negative environmental impact) or clinical beds that make a user’s bedroom environment feel sterile which can negatively impact sleep and other health and wellbeing outcomes. Influenced by the latest trends in consumer bedroom furniture, Sirius has been designed using the same principles as non-assistive technology beds, while achieving clinical functionality for both low and high care users. Sirius can be further accessorised with matching headboards, footboards and companion beds, seamlessly integrating into any bedroom.
