  • Australia Institute research shows Australians waste 7.6 million tonnes of food every year, costing households $19.3 billion[2]. As Australians continue to feel the impacts of an economic slowdown, they’re looking for smart appliances that make their busy lives easier. Samsung’s smart refrigerator research[3] shows the top three customer pain points in purchasing, storing and cooking food are: 1. It’s hard to remember what’s in the fridge 2. I forget to buy the necessary ingredients 3. It’s hard to remember/manage expiration dates These challenges may lead to inefficient use of ingredients and or the unnecessary disposal of food.

  • Samsung’s AI Family Hub™ has smart technology that can makes kitchen management easier. “AI Vision Inside™” uses an internal camera that acts as a smart food management system, capable of identifying up to 33 fresh food items[4] and updating your food list as they’re added or removed. This allows Australians to view their Food List from virtually anywhere Using the SmartThings app on a compatible smartphone, track expiration dates, and receive suggested recipes[5]. Busy families can avoid forgetting to restock a pantry staple thanks to “Shopping List” which makes it easy to add items with a touch or voice command[6].

  • As Australians continue to feel the effects of rising cost-of-living, smart appliances have a key role to play in minimising wastage and being more efficient in the kitchen, providing the tools and solutions to help us make informed choices. Samsung’s internal research shows that on an average, Australians predict they can save $154 per week by cooking at home instead of ordering takeaway[7]. Food waste also costs Australian households $19.3 billion each year[8]. Samsung’s Family Hub AI™ can help busy Australian families better manage food and the grocery list, which could help reduce a family’s food waste.

  • The AI Family Hub™ is packed with a range of innovative features: • Beverage Centre™ with Autofill Infuser Water Jug: An integrated water station inside the Family Hub™ will automatically refill Samsung’s BPA-free Autofill Infuser Water Jug[9] all hidden inside the door for a seamless, flat door design outside. • The Dual Auto Ice Maker: With separate icemakers that serve regular cubed ice and smaller Ice Bites™ for fast cooling, make up to 2.3kg of ice a day[10]. Located in the freezer instead of the door, it frees up more storage space inside the fridge. • Smart Home control: By using voice or touch commands, users can control compatible smart appliances and IoT devices, such as turning them on/off, adjusting settings, adding reminders or calendar updates, mirroring compatible screens and monitoring power usage, all from the Family Hub™ home screen[11]. • Shopping List: Allowing users to add items to their list with a touch or voice command, which can be accessed on their compatible smartphone. • Cool Select+ FlexZone™: The FlexZone gives ultimate flexibility and freshness in space and preservation. With Custom Cooling in the fourth compartment, switch from freezer to fridge for extra storage space when needed.
