Constrica was dreamed up by two plumbers who saw the same problem on every job: glue and primer tins duct-taped together in messy, unsafe setups that spilled solvents and covered critical safety labels. They needed a durable, no-fuss solution that could become a staple in every plumber’s kit. The challenge was creating a robust, mono-material product that could withstand harsh job site conditions, keep labels visible, and work globally across non-standard tin sizes. Designing a secure, flexible holder for various tin diameters at an accessible retail price, pushed the limits of form, fit, and manufacturability within a single injection-moulded part.

The key design roadblock was creating a one-piece, non-assembled product that could be injection moulded efficiently while securely holding various tin sizes. Through iterative CAD development and rapid prototyping, the Constricta Multi Pot Grip was refined into a strong, flexible, mono-material solution that performs even when inverted. Additional features were added through the design process, allowing it to clip securely to ladders, scaffolds, screws, and belts — improving portability and site efficiency. Tooling was carefully developed to ensure durability and clean ejection, making the product reliable at scale and well-suited to harsh job site conditions.

Now sold in thousands and stocked in over 60 Reece stores, the Constricta Multi Pot Grip has achieved strong commercial traction both in Australia and abroad. It replaces duct tape as a single-use workaround, reducing tape and chemical waste on job sites daily. Designed for longevity and made from a single recyclable material, it aligns with responsible manufacturing goals as well as the ability to be manufactured in Australia for its primary market. Its success highlights the value of smart, user-driven designing products that are right for market.

With the product made from glass-filled Nylon, the sprung-loaded adjustable arms allow for a a strong, secure hold while adjusting for a wide range of glue and primer pot/tin sizes. The glass-filled Nylon is also made in Australia, meaning that both the material and product are both designed and produced here in Austraila, simplifying supply chains. Being a mono-material single-part, this simplifies not only use straight out of the box, but also improves the environmental impact of its lifecycle. It reduces the chance of assemblies breaking - which increases its working lifespan - and it simplifies recycling when recovering the material at end-of-life. The integrated hook allows for a secure attachment to a variety of structures like ladders, scaffolds, screws, and work belts - improving general workflow & efficiency.
