Adapting our renowned phone case success to larger format devices posed multifaceted challenges. We aimed to reduce weight while upholding the stringent drop protection standards our users expect. Disguising the folio attachment became crucial to ensure the case stands independently as a premium product. Additionally, achieving seamless alignment and effortless attachment of the folio posed significant hurdles. Addressing these challenges required innovative solutions to maintain brand integrity and user satisfaction, pushing the boundaries of design and engineering to deliver a next-generation product that exceeds expectations in functionality, aesthetics, and user experience.

Addressing weight concerns, we incorporated structural coring behind sleek surfaces, reducing mass without compromising strength. By substituting high-density materials in thicker sections with lightweight EVA foams, we bolstered internal protection while minimizing weight. Achieving precise alignment was pivotal. Introducing a labyrinth of small magnets with alternating polarity significantly enhanced attraction force, ensuring seamless alignment between the case and folio attachment. Additionally, we integrated Apple Pencil support seamlessly into the design. The folio clasp accommodates both with and without Apple Pencil states, offering flexibility to users based on their preferences. This solution reflects our commitment to versatility and user-centric design.
