In a constantly evolving industry, we’re passionate about our ongoing commitment to customer service and product training. The service we provide is what differentiates us from competitors and it all starts with our training programs. Our Cabin Crew are highly trained in all aspects of Qantas products, service, aircraft safety and emergency procedures. One of our newest training programs – Restaurant in the Sky – offers a suite of learning opportunities designed to complement the genuine service experience that our Cabin Crew are famous for. To deliver the three elements of Restaurant in the Sky, we are proud to partner with leaders in the food, wine and coffee industries making this training trifecta such a success.

  • Sommelier in the Sky Training Program is designed to build wine knowledge, confidence and service delivery skills of our Cabin Crew over three full days (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced). In each program Cabin Crew are guided through the wine making process, grape varieties, wine styles, food matching, and tasting techniques with a focus on Australian varietals served onboard. We partner with Rockpool and Qantas Epicure to offer Sommelier in the Sky Training Programs in Qantas locations around the globe. With over 300 trained Sommeliers flying in the skies, customers now have the opportunity to discover more about Australian wines served onboard and match wine to their meal selection.

  • We're proud to be partnering with Vittoria Coffee College to train our Cabin Crew in the art and science to espresso coffee making. Our Barista in the Sky Training Program offers bespoke training for Qantas linking the use of traditional espresso machines and techniques to those able to be used onboard a Qantas aircraft. With 100 Barista's in the Sky and plans to grow this number in 2016 this training program is accredited with the Vittoria Coffee Bronze Barista certificate. Training is offered as a half day program and has had record attendance and completion rates of 100%, with a waitlist of over 200 Cabin Crew lining up to do this voluntary training program.

  • Chef in the Sky Training Program has been designed to enhance the Qantas customer journey by giving Cabin Crew the tools to prepare and showcase our exceptional inflight food offering to Rockpool standards, and deliver a five star restaurant service in the sky. Cabin Crew spend time with Qantas' Food & Beverage team and Rockpool Chef's learning how to perfectly cook and plate dishes served onboard. There's also plenty of opportunity for participants to share tips, give feedback and hone their new skills. This full day training program is offered in both Sydney and London in partnership with Rockpool and with over 500 trained Chef's in the sky this is one of our most prominent training programs on offer.
