  • Nissan designers sought to create an electric vehicle (EV) that went the next step when it comes to electrification. Many people know that EVs need a charge to drive, and people can re-charge their vehicle as they need based on driving habits and driving frequency. However, could an electric car ever be used as a mobile battery to charge the home, business or put charge back into the grid? With Nissan to launch a second-generation LEAF, designers worked on unique vehicle-to-grid bi-directional capabilities that could achieve just this. And they did, LEAF is the only EV to offer this technology.

  • The Nissan LEAF is an icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility and the only electric vehicle in the world capable of bi-directional charging. What is this? Not only is the LEAF able to take on and store charge, but it is also able to provide charge back from the car to the home, business or electricity grid. Using a vehicle-to-home system like this, the battery makes it possible to store surplus power during the day and then use it to help power the home, or business, in the evening. Easy to charge and environmentally friendly, this offers owners cost saving opportunities.

  • New Nissan LEAF has a very positive impact to many sections of society. LEAF is responsible for the democratisation of EV and its bi-directional capabilities help every person do something positive for the environment, and save money by feeding LEAF charge back into the household, business or grid. EVs are becoming more popular with private, commercial and fleet buyers, and LEAF - and its capabilities - will be a driver of sales. Environmentally conscious, the LEAF has zero tailpipe emissions, and by feeding charge back to the household/business/grid it means excess energy is being used rather than lost, preventing new energy use.

  • The Nissan LEAF is the world’s best-selling electric vehicle with over 400,000 global sales. With a more powerful 40kWh battery and a real world driving range of up to 270kms (WLTP combined cycle), the new Nissan LEAF has an improved 110kW of power – up 38 per cent versus the outgoing model – and 320Nm or torque, an increase of 14 per cent over the first generation, making driving exhilarating. Charging times, depending on the charging connection, range between 24 hours to a less than 60 minute fast charge. The New Nissan LEAF is packed with Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) technologies including Intelligent 360 degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking – with Pedestrian Protection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Cruise and Trace Control and Intelligent Lane Intervention. It also features e-pedal, a world-first technology that allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate, stop and hold the car by using the accelerator pedal alone – without needing to use the brakes. It also includes the Auto Hold function, maintaining the car’s position until acceleration is required. Technically superior to the outgoing model, it has all of the safety and technology that buyers need in a modern vehicle.
