Monolith Aluminum

The Monolith Aluminum project addresses the challenge of miniaturizing and portablizing the immersive sound experience of its larger counterpart. Drawing on two years of development and insights from the Monolith series, the challenge was to distill the advanced audio technology and craftsmanship into a compact package without compromising sound quality. By meticulously tuning and engineering the speaker, we aimed to deliver the same immersive audio experience in a portable form factor, meeting and exceeding the brief to bring cutting-edge audio excellence to a wider audience on the go.

Our design solution focused on sustainability and high performance. We used recycled aluminum for the exterior shell and high-grade recycled plastics for the interior. Finding a CNC machining partner for the aluminum and sourcing a certified battery (we could not afford a customised one) were significant challenges. The compact, high-performance drivers from Punktkilde in China necessitated overseas manufacturing to avoid excessive shipping. Key milestones included material selection, supplier partnerships, and overcoming certification and integration hurdles. Our commitment to eco-friendly materials and superior design led to an innovative audio product that meets both aesthetic and functional goals.
