The Seabin nature intelligence service turns marine pollution into verified, reportable data — and that data into commercial products. End-to-end: hardware in the water, science-grade annotation, public dashboard, Impact Certificates. Built for FMCG brands, governments, and event organisers operating ahead of incoming nature-reporting and EPR regulation.

  • CHALLENGE
  • SOLUTION
  • IMPACT
  • MORE
  • Marine pollution data is fragmented, slow, and locked behind paywalls, leaving FMCG brands exposed to greenwashing risk, governments without evidence to regulate, and citizens unable to see what their consumption causes. Seabin needed to:• Fill a global data gap on plastic and microplastic pollution at a frequency and accuracy nobody else delivers.• Connect hardware in the water, scientific verification, and commercial reporting into a single, repeatable service, without losing rigour at any handover.• Make the service simple enough that a brand can buy it ahead of incoming nature-reporting and EPR regulation.

  • Built entirely in-house. The Seabin service connects four layers: hardware deployment and daily collection by the ops team; an item-by-item annotation pipeline that classifies every piece of debris; verified data flowing live to a public dashboard, custom partner reports, and Impact Certificates; and one commercial wrapper through which brands buy verified impact, governments buy data services, and citizens get free public access. The hardest moment: building scientific rigour deep enough for regulators while keeping the partner experience light enough to close deals. Solved by separating the audit-grade methodology layer from the customer-facing interface.

  • The service generated $1.2 million in FY25 revenue with no dedicated sales team and no ad spend. We are positioning the model to suit a regulatory led revenue model like Extender Producer Responsibility. Our six pillars of impact:• Health — microplastics linked to cancer and reproductive harm. The next planetary crisis.• Commercial — verified reporting free from greenwashing risk. Magnum Ice Cream signed first; the FMCG precedent.• Environmental — over 100 tonnes of marine litter captured since 2020.• Financial & Reputational — partners de-risk against incoming regulation.• Societal — democratising data once locked behind paywalls.• Political — publicly displayed branded litter; polluters can’t hide.

  • Regulatory led revenue ready. Extended producer responsibility may be announced in October 2026, which will require all FMCG's to add a cost for cleanup, reporting, recycling and more.End-to-End Ownership. Hardware, daily ops, scientific annotation, software, partner onboarding, and commercial fulfilment all delivered by one Seabin team. No outsourced data layers. No third-party gaps. One Service, Four Audiences. Brands buy verified impact reporting. Governments buy data services. Event organisers buy per-attendee impact studies. Citizens get free public access. Same dataset, different depth.Impact Certificates. A productised, traceable output of the service. Verified by methodology, backed by physical evidence, defensible against greenwashing claims.Tiered Access. Free dashboard for public accountability; premium tier for partners with custom date ranges, downloads, automated reporting, and marketing rights.Built-In Activism. A one-click email to a local MP — turning service users into political pressure on polluters and councils.Trusted Source of Truth. Audit-grade methodology, publicly defensible, designed for citation in TNFD reports, EPR mechanisms, and government policy submissions.Replicable Model. Vivid Sydney 2024 vs 2025 became the template for event-organiser partnerships; the Magnum/Streets agreement set the FMCG precedent.Designed for Everyone. A six-year-old uses the same interface as a sustainability lead — different depth, same trust.
