Lumin is a touchscreen tablet for seniors or those with early stages of cognitive impairment, dexterity issues, poor vision, or those who are ‘tech-shy’. Lumin addresses the challenges of digital exclusion, social isolation and loneliness by enabling users to stay in touch with loved ones, providing connection, safety and entertainment.

  • After caring for an elderly parent with chronic illness, co-founder Paul Wilson experienced first-hand the challenges faced by carers. He discovered there was no single tool to help support carers or to keep the elderly easily connected with family, friends and the online world that can provide real benefit. Challenge was to design a product that would deliver communication tools, safety and wellness in a single platform that was easy to use.   • Using purpose-built hardware, Lumin was developed as a 17-inch free-standing wifi enabled touchscreen tablet, with a bespoke screen interface featuring large coloured buttons and iconography for ease of use. Initial screen features: - Phone (with the ability to replace landline) - Messages - Photos - Weather - Calendar - Radio - News Other: - No passwords required - Ready to use on delivery, no set-up required - A free Supporters App was created so family/friends could communicate directly with the user via their Lumin Screen. - Lumin is remotely supported and monitored by our team to ensure the whole system operates at 99.99%.

  • Lumin now serves families, individuals, home care and retirement villages delivering care and connection. With over 4000 users, Lumin has been adopted by 40+ home care providers as well as major retirement communities across ANZ. As Home Care packages are designed to support clients in maintaining social connections, keeping safe and independent for longer, Lumin is recognised by the Australian Government as a possible inclusion in home care packages. With information much more accessible to residents in age care or retirement living settings, Lumin offers unparalleled operational efficiencies and age-in-place options for seniors as their needs change over time.

  • For Individuals: - Emergency alert button on screen, integrates with wall button or safety pendant, notifies Supporter network and/or 24/7 monitoring service - Blocking calls from unrecognised numbers/telemarketers - Phone calls by clicking on photo of contact - Ability to take doctor appointments from home (telehealth) - Medication reminders (can be remotely monitored by Supporters) - Photo sharing with Supporters - Simplified Internet - Tailored content, such as favourite radio stations, video channels, games, news and weather (able to program any radio station in the world) - Lumin screen arrives pre-programmed with contacts and preferred content For Retirement Living Providers: A Lumin Community Portal, accessible via web browser enables village managers to communicate with residents directly via their Lumin screen: - Messages - Individual or en masse, with ability to monitor views and replies - Group video - Answered like any other call - Concierge - Share events, activities and take RSVPs - Live Broadcasts - From any streaming platform - Newsletters - Monitor open rates and engagement - Feedback - Survey residents, consolidate and share - Undertake unobtrusive welfare checks - Smart home functionality; intercom, blinds, lights etc. - Manage maintenance requests - Create interest groups and encourage participation
