OneSchool Global (OSG) is one of the world’s largest school networks, with 8,000+ students across 120+ campuses. Its Learning to Learn Framework (L2L), inspired by the Dalton Plan, integrates pedagogy, space, and technology to enable self-directed learning – strengthening student agency and developing work-ready independent thinkers.

  • Traditional education models often limit student agency, leaving students less prepared to manage their learning and navigate complexity beyond school.OneSchool Global operates across five diverse regions, where fragmented delivery, variability in teaching practice, and inconsistent approaches to independence constrained the development of critical thinking at scale. The challenge was to design a unified, scalable system that embeds student ownership within a structured global model. This required shifting teachers from content delivery to coaching, while supporting students to develop self-management and reflection. There was no global precedent, and expectations remained aligned to traditional classroom models.

  • Inspired by Helen Parkhurst’s Dalton Plan, John Hattie’s research, and Ron Ritchhart’s work, the Learning to Learn (L2L) Framework ensures independence is designed, not assumed. It overturns inconsistency and limited student agency by integrating pedagogy, curriculum, space, and technology into a structured system.Students plan, manage, and evaluate their learning through Assignment, Lesson, and Study. Assignments act as learning contracts, lessons focus on instruction and discussion, and Study enables independent and collaborative application within Learning Centres.A shared Learning Management System (LMS) and hybrid delivery ensure consistency and access to expertise, enabling a scalable, system-wide approach to self-directed learning.

  • L2L has embedded self-directed learning and strengthened student agency and resilience across 120+ campuses.COMMERCIAL IMPACT - L2L provides a scalable operating model, reducing duplication and enabling specialist teaching, shared resources, and consistent delivery across campuses.SOCIETAL - As a global model, L2L supports equity by allowing students at smaller or remote campuses to access lessons and subject expertise beyond limitations. As a result, students report increased confidence, ownership of their learning, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively, preparing them for life beyond school.ENVIRONMENTAL - Digital assignments, hybrid delivery, and shared resources reduce reliance on duplicated materials and unnecessary travel.

  • The L2L Framework integrates pedagogy, space, and technology into a unified system designed to build independence through structure.ASSIGNMENT–LESSON–STUDY MODEL - A repeatable learning cycle where assignments act as structured learning contracts, defining content, expectations, success criteria, and outcomes. Lessons focus on instruction, discussion, and feedback, while Study enables independent and collaborative application, supporting planning, engagement, and reflection.TEACHER AS COACH - Teachers guide learning through questioning, feedback, and targeted support, helping students think critically, monitor progress, and take ownership.STRUCTURED STUDENT AGENCY - Students make informed decisions about how, where, and with whom they learn, embedding independence within a clearly defined system.CONSISTENT LEARNING DESIGN - While curriculum varies according to local requirements, the design of learning and standardised assignment templates remain consistent, ensuring clarity and alignment globally.LEARNING CENTRES - Spaces reflect modern work environments, intentionally designed for physical and hybrid study – enabling students to select environments that match their learning needs.GLOBAL DIGITAL AND HYBRID INFRASTRUCTURE - A shared LMS enables consistent delivery, real-time progress tracking, and access to expertise across 120+ campuses.
