While online shopping seems to be the new norm, it also increases the unfortunate possibility for these packages to be stolen from doorsteps upon delivery. Milkcan Outdoor are constantly evolving and designing new products to meet our specific customer’s needs. Market research identified the need for an affordable yet stylish solution that would allow consumers to safely receive their parcels and mail direct to their home, while also being suitable for multiple installation types.

The Geneva was carefully and thoughtfully designed to provide a larger parcel storage option for customers specifically requiring a parcel letterbox to install into their brick, timber or steel fences. This design features a unique body shape and smaller front panel to minimise the cutout size required for fence installations into varying fence heights, which has previously been a challenge and missed opportunity in the market. Once this opportunity was identified in the market, it was imperative that the design ticked all boxes for functionality, aesthetics, ergonomics, packaging for safe shipping and ease of installation for the everyday Australian.

When designing the Geneva, the primary consideration for overall impact was to create a parcel letterbox to fill a current gap in the market targeting all homes – not only new builds, but existing homes and renovations. The Geneva allows more Australian households the peace of mind to know their online shopping deliveries are waiting safely for them at home, when this option may have previously been unavailable to them. Additional considerations were to minimise potential waste to the environment from multiple standpoints, including reducing packaging and reducing consumer contribution to landfill.

In comparison to other parcel letterboxes suitable for brick or fence installation currently on the market, the Geneva’s smaller front panel has been designed to create that fine balance between the functionality to accept larger parcel sizes with ease, whilst also providing a minimal, modern look, with maximum impact. An internal rotating guard mechanism has been thoughtfully engineered to create a barrier to prevent parcel theft once packages have been delivered. The unique design of the mechanism allows bigger parcels to be delivered, unlike alternative options on the market where the parcel door includes obstructions that affect the delivery space. Additionally, this clever mechanism also contributes to a larger parcel storage capacity in the internal compartment. No detail was overlooked and every element was considered. This is evident in the integration of inaccessible internal fixings (for letterbox assembly) to provide extra security and prevent the risk of potential thieves trying to externally disassemble the letterbox.
