GeForce GTX 1080 Founder’s Edition

Nvidia is well-known as a visual computing company. To help tell that story, we decided to use tessellated surfaces in our deign since they mimic the basic polygonal shapes that make up 3D computer graphics. Nearly every aspect of the design contributes to better performance. The die-cast, aluminum body which is unique to the industry, is machine finished and heat treated for strength, rigidity, and durability, and is precisely designed for superior heat dissipation. The metal baseplate and user-modifiable back cover, along with low profile board components, create clean, unobstructed channels for low air resistance resulting in a product unmatched in the industry in acoustics, efficiency, and performance.

The lighted GEFORCE GTX logo on the side of the device is a highly desired element among the PC gaming community. When powered on, the highly recognizable logo, provides a striking appearance when installed into a typical windowed gaming chassis that allows viewing of the internal components. It also acts a status indicator, which canned be dimmed using onscreen controls. Care was taken during packaging design to ensure a premium OOB experience. Unlike traditional packaging where similar products are buried on five sides, the GTX 1080 sits upright and is presented to the user allowing a nearly 360 degree view to the product.

In order to be compatible with an extremely broad range of computer case environments, these types of products are heavily constrained by PC industry standards that require strict adherence to overall size limits. Our GTX 1080 Founder's Edition packs an immense amount of technology within a very small form factor. Yet even in such a restricted space, it manages to enclose all of the needed components and self-contained cooling while improving acoustics, power efficiency, and performance over previous generations.

The design and engineering of the GEFORCE GTX 1080 Founder's Edition managed to successfully leverage very similar manufacturing processes as our previous product line. This proved to be advantageous because it allowed us to meet aggressive time-to-market schedules, tight cost targets, and maintaining low NRE, all while managing to achieve an all-new look based on a similar language.

Our Founder's Edition graphics card utilizes premium materials, high-quality components, and advanced technologies, to not only showcase Nvidia's brand, but also to highlight it's on-going pledge to providing the very best products to our customers.
