Frog Bike Light

The two most significant design challenges were to upgrade the light optics from the traditional single LED’s to the far better-performing COB LEDs, not only did this produce a brighter more efficient light, but it also allowed for the LEDs to be positioned in a curved layout that helps with side illumination. The other most notable challenge was to accommodate a new rechargeable battery to replace the original single-use coin cell battery.

The final realised design for Frog beat our own expectations. With exceptional design prowess Knog were able to retain all the aesthetics and functionality that was loved about the original Frog but pack it full of new technology and improved performance. Many products that offer internal rechargeable batteries suffer from a compromise in the aesthetics in order to accommodate a charging port. In the case of the Frog – this has been achieved with a modern USB-C port neatly concealed under a weather sealing flap.

In order to provide a greater impact from the COB light, the design has divided the COB element into 5 segments, which can be driven separately, and used to create striking flash patterns that serve to further enhance the visibility of the rider on the road. The iconic design of the original frog was well regarded in the marketplace, so the design of this new version seeks to build upon this legacy whilst implementing both technological and aesthetic improvements.

Advanced side visibility Due to the use of COB technology that allows the LEDs to be arranged on a curved board light is also emitted from the sides of the light significantly adding to the side visibility of the light and the additional safety this affords the rider. One button operation 1 large, easy press button makes the operation of these lights super simple, even in gloves. 100% Waterproof A rating of IP67 means these lights keep on shining however wet the weather. USB rechargeable This is the first rechargeable Frog ever, simply plug it into a USB C to charge. Long-lasting With up to 50 hours between charges, you’ll have light whenever you need it. Compact Lightweight design Weighing in at just 20g and with a streamline and compact design, Frog can be mounted on even the most cluttered bike’s cockpit without interfering with its operation.
