Foundation Theatres

Foundation Theatres runs four Sydney venues (Capitol Theatre, Sydney Lyric, Foundry Theatre and Sydney Event Centre). Each had its own website, its own loyal audience, and its own brand. The challenge was bringing all of that under one 'digital' roof. It also needed to make life easier for the internal team managing the websites day-to-day, while protecting each venue's search presence and making it simpler for audiences to find and explore what's on across all four theatres.

Keeping each venue's individual domains rather than consolidating was a key decision. Years of SEO built around these was too valuable to throw away, and preserving that while still uniting the experience was the real design challenge.The final build runs on Vue.js and .NET with a centralised CMS and Ticketmaster integration. Custom theming supports each theatre's individual brand, while show landing pages can be further tailored to each production — with primary and secondary colours set to reflect the show's own visual identity. The platform is also built to scale, allowing new venues to be onboarded without starting from scratch.

By bringing all venues into one platform, the content team went from juggling multiple CMS instances to managing everything in one place, instantly saving them time day-to-day. For audiences, cross-venue navigation and aggregated search across all websites makes discovering shows effortless. Richer show pages with cast information and FAQs contributed to a perfect Lighthouse SEO score of 100, while a Performance score of 93 reflects a fast, reliable experience. Accessibility improvements across the platform mean live theatre is more discoverable and inclusive for all audiences.
