Flicks is Australia’s cinema and streaming content discovery platform. It brings together nationwide showtimes, streaming listings, and editorial recommendations into one digital publication. The website helps 12 million content seekers each year find what to watch, and where to watch it. Flicks solves the problem of content overload.

  • Content seekers experience these two pain-points: “what should I watch?” and “where can I watch it?”. These questions are increasingly hard to answer. The media landscape is flooded with shifting release patterns, different streaming platforms, and far more great content than anyone can stay on top of. People are often confused, out-of-the-loop, and frustrated. Flicks distils a wide range of data, from streaming sites and cinemas, and presents this in a way that is accessible and engaging. The challenge was to create a one-stop content destination to help people discover their next favourite movie or show.

  • Flicks is solution-focused. It collects data from 500+ cinemas and 30+ streaming platforms across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Based on people’s decision-making processes, this is organised into easy-to-find listings, audience ratings, age suitability and combined with opinion-led editorial. Delivered through an independent brand voice, friendly UX, with optimised user flows, Flicks helps users better decide if a given piece of content is right for them. Closing the loop, the product then displays cinema showtimes near them or streaming options.

  • Commercial impact: Flicks’ business model is based on ad revenue. Since 2019, Flicks has achieved 81% growth in Australia. The website attracts 12 million Australian content seekers per year, driving demand across cinema and streaming. Societal impact: Flicks help people save time. It connects people to good content and a community of like-minded people, improving the quality of life - in particular, elevating how people can better spend their precious leisure time. As a 100% digital publication, Flicks is highly accessible and scalable without having to physically deliver the product into consumers’ hands.

Find what to watch and where to watch it by searching for movies by location, by preferred cinema. Users can make decisions with trailers, synopsis, reviews, ratings, and who made it. Once decided, they can add to their watchlist or book tickets. Streaming Guide: Flicks aggregates data from streaming platforms. Search and filter your options by cast/crew, streamer, genre, release year, Rotten Tomatoes scores and more. Watch trailers, read reviews, add to watchlist or stream. Live Sport: Find start times and where to watch live sport. Flicks covers football, cricket, tennis, MMA, American football, basketball, motorsport, sailing, rugby, Australian rules, netball and rugby league.
