DS8100 Series

The retail devices are available in black and white colourways to fit into any retail environment and can come corded or cordless. The high performance scanning technology allows for damaged, miss-printed and on-screen barcodes to easily be scanned, along with full page document capture, multiple barcode scanning and digimarc (invisible barcodes) to be recognised.

The DS8178 is the only scanner in its class that makes it easy to see at a glance whether a battery needs to be replaced before the scanner is placed into service. The battery is easy to remove without tools for servicing. The charge/data contacts are integrated so when the battery is replaced, these are refreshed. With a wealth of battery health information, including charge cycles consumed, a State-of-Health meter and full charge capacity, you can easily spot and replace aging batteries before they can no longer last a full shift.

Two cradles were designed allowing for simple insertion/removal. They can sit on desktops, be mounted to walls or mobile workstations or attached to mounting arms. Bluetooth pairing of device to the cradle occurs automatically upon insertion. Miss-placed devices are easily found using the pager button. The low profile standard cradle was designed to meet the needs of users requiring a cradle that could fit under a shelf on a retail counter or mounting to a wall. The presentation cradle allows for hands free presentation scanning with a minimal footprint.

123Scan software can easily create configuration barcodes to program scanners. If imagers are in multiple locations across the country or around the world, with Scanner Management Service (SMS), the devices can be configured and the firmware updated for any DS8100 Series device that is plugged into the host — no depot staging or user action is required — such as the scanning of a configuration barcode. With detailed scanning performance metrics that include speed and type of barcode for every barcode scanned, it's easy to spot and correct barcode issues before they impact worker productivity and the quality of customer service.

The healthcare device's UI was softened for use around infirm patients. It has a softer green aimer LED and white illumination for use around patients. A wide array of easily controllable feedback modes designed for virtually any hospital environment are available. From the Intensive Care Unit to a quiet night shift or a busy nosier day shift, there is a feedback mode that will instantly notify your healthcare workers that a barcode was properly captured — without disturbing patients. The healthcare specific housings were designed to reduce the spread of bacteria, by reducing part lines, removing exposed screw bosses, and using plastics resistant to healthcare grade cleaning products.

Healthcare cradles were developed with a plastics resistant to healthcare grade cleaning products. The cradles were designed with capacitive page buttons to remove part lines and therefor dirt traps at frequently touched interaction points. The healthcare presentation cradle has a magnet in its base to increase device security when used on mobile workstation, removing contact vibration and along with the device's white illumination can also act as a task light in patients' rooms.
