DecoPost® Cover

The design challenge recognised that posts and poles used in pergolas, verandahs, and awnings are typically made from timber or steel – materials prone to weathering, fading, warping, rust, and ongoing maintenance in Australia’s environments.While this deterioration affects appearance and performance, full replacement is often costly, disruptive, and unnecessary when the structural core remains sound. At the same time, there is growing demand for cleaner, more architecturally refined structural elements.The challenge was to develop a solution that upgrades existing posts, improves durability, safety, and longevity, while reduces maintenance and delivering a seamless, high-quality aesthetic without full removal or replacement.

The DecoPost® Cover was designed as a two-piece, self-mating aluminium wrap system to install over existing posts up to 90x90mm. The system enables one section to be fixed in place, while the second clicks-on to form an enclosed post with concealed corner joins and options for no visible fixings. The design securely wraps around weathered structural posts, transforming them into architecturally refined features.Designing a single extrusion profile that is used for both halves of the cover simplified manufacturing, reduced tooling and production costs, as well as improved installation efficiency and material utilisation, resulting in a practical, scalable solution.

The DecoPost Cover makes upgrading existing posts faster and more efficient for trades, while giving building owners confidence in a durable, weather-resistant product that requires minimal maintenance. Its simple installation reduces labour time and disruption, providing a cost-effective way to improve existing structures, extend asset life, and enhance a building’s overall appearance and value.Manufactured from recyclable, lower-carbon aluminium, the system supports a more sustainable approach, while also promoting responsible material use and prioritising upgrade over replacement.
