Cygnett Armoured Pro 240W to USB 4.0 USB-C to USB C Cable

When Cygnett tasked themselves with designing their new cable range, they were responding to a market racing to the bottom. Price was seemingly the main purchase driver. Cygnett’s challenge was to turn their focus away from cost disruption and toward offering unique consumer value through design. Their research found cables were not lasting long enough before failing, especially around the connection head. Additionally, consumers demanded ever higher speeds in data and power transfer. By finding a way to solve these key consumer problems by design, Cygnett could offer a cable with a much longer lifespan, and offer greater value overall.

This race to the bottom consisted of numerous cable options with electrically resistant wire coated with PVC. Whilst flexible, PVC can break or split. The Armoured Pro cable uses a 5mm cable core which can manage data transfer of 40gbps, and power transfer of 240W. This core is bolstered with a durable DuPont Kevlar Aramid Fibre, covered in double braided Nylon. The head is forged from a metallic alloy offering improved durability, and which uniquely sleeves over a TPU strain relief collar to give added strength. The scallop in the collar offers flex relief to the connector component.

The Armoured Pro cable provides a unique cable option promising a long life-cycle and a high quality of user experience. This long life-cycle reduces premature product replacement, reduces environmental impact and offers improved economic value to the end consumer. Whilst additional impact is achieved through fast power and data transfer speeds, the benefit in designing a high-performance, high value cable has trickled down to benefit the entire Armoured Cable range. Overall this range has been outperforming the competition, with large sales numbers returning value to retailers and back to Cygnett.

Further strength and durability is achieved through a unique assembly process. The metallic alloy head is assembled onto the cable length first, before the inner TPU connection body is over-molded around the connector components. The metallic head is then sleeved back over the TPU which affords a shape truncated from the head back to the cable, further bolstering strain-relief.
