Crawford Collection

The Crawford collection core design challenge was to develop a truly international design collection sensitive to how people live within the Asia Pacific region, from Australia to China whilst retaining a strong consideration for environmentally responsible materials and manufacturing processes. Launched in Australia in 2021 building on the original collection with new seating and bed collection the Crawford collection was developed from the inside out with subtle innovative design details alongside refined flat packing design consideration and developed in collaboration with renowned design manufacturer Stellarworks and retailer Lane Crawford.

The Crawford collection is a celebration of the harmony between the warmth of natural timber and the lightness of steel. Working in tandem the collection is refined by sculptural tactile timber forms with visually light and strong steel support. Every piece from the slender proportioned Crawford bed to the sculptural dining chair celebrate these materials and their properties to create a collection designed to last a lifetime. Upon closer inspection each piece reveals intelligent consideration from removeable lazy Susan table design to innovative slung backrest on sofa and bed design enabling flat packing and use in multiple use environments.

Minimal and yet highly detailed the Crawford collection is designed to be restrained in form and yet upon closer inspection reveal subtle refined design details that speak to the quality and workmanship of the collection and of how people live today. Made from FSC rated solid timber and natural wool fabrics the collection is proudly developed and made in Shanghai at Stellarworks renowned workshop. The Crawford collection was developed in collaboration with leading department store Lane Crawford and Stellarworks to be a celebration of fine furniture manufacture in Shanghai an often under celebrated location of manufacture.

The collection including the new Crawford upholstered chair intelligently use common metal framework as the timber chair allowing for minimisation of components. The bed and lounge are uniquely assembled via a slung fabric backrest designed to minimise materials and weight for shipping and allow the bed to be entirely flat packing. The Crawford table incorporates an innovative removeable lazy Susan allowing for transformation of use of the table. Each piece in the Crawford collection was designed to last a lifetime with focus on durable steel frame alongside natural solid FSC rated timber.
