  • Traditional non-linear editing (NLE) software uses thousands of clips to organise media, requiring time-consuming mouse-driven drag and drop file manipulation. This method is too slow for fast-turnaround work such as TV commercials, news gathering and promotional material. Prior to the emergence of NLE software, analogue editing allowed quick access to media by shuttling up and down a single roll of video tape. The challenge: accelerate professional video editing by integrating the efficiency of tape-based editing into NLE workflows. To achieve this, an interface was required that would offer editors a more intrinsic connection with their software.

  • Complimenting DaVinci Resolve’s revolutionary Cut and Edit pages, the Editor Keyboard makes editing faster through two-handed use. Using the bespoke search dial with adaptive electronic clutch to move intuitively through clips, editors can simultaneously use colour-coded keys to apply 121 core functions across multiple timelines. The tiered keyboard profile offers important tactile feedback, enhancing efficiency and enabling editors to focus on creative outcomes. The replaceable soft-touch hand rest reduces fatigue during long hours of post-production, while high-performance key switches, typically found in professional eSports keyboards are responsive and durable, certified for over a million operations.

  • Driven by real-world insight and an intimate understanding of the post-production process, the DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard demonstrates a willingness to challenge entrenched industry practises. Rather than simply following market trends, Blackmagic Design questions traditional thinking to develop considered, innovative products such as this that provide tangible efficiencies to specific workflows. This further strengthens Blackmagic Design’s established reputation for empowering creative people with professional video technology. A faster, intuitive, more natural way of editing, The DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard allows editors to concentrate on creative outcomes, free of the barriers that have traditionally hindered productivity.

  • Co-developed with DaVinci Resolve 16, the Editor Keyboard utilises colour, tactile cues and materiality to build an intrinsic link between software and user, in an effort to further optimise the editing process. Aligning directly with DaVinci Resolve’s GUI, the keyboard is divided into clearly defined working areas that correspond to the software’s revolutionary Cut and Edit pages. Productivity Driven Ergonomics The tiered profile offers important tactile feedback, enhancing efficiency and enabling editors to move around the keyboard while remaining focussed on creative outcomes. Enlarged keys prioritise regularly used function like ‘In’, ‘Out’ points, ’Source’ and ‘Timeline’, while colour-coded buttons delineate related functions into logical groups. Professional Performance High-performance key switches, typically found in professional eSports keyboards are responsive and durable, certified for over a million operations. Available as spare parts, the keyboard can be refreshed and repaired over time. Plug and Play With plug and play functionality straight out of the box, the DaVinci Editor Keyboard instantly provides professional editors with a more efficient way of working.
