Aura Sofa

The challenge was to develop a brand-new modular sofa that introduced flowing, sculptural form to the King Living range—without relying on traditional cushions or bulky components. Many curved sofas on the market are either fixed or lack ergonomic comfort and adaptability. The brief demanded a streamlined, versatile piece suitable for both compact and large spaces, incorporating King Living’s signature engineering. It also had to meet compliance across AU, UK, and US markets, with sustainable features and long-lasting comfort. Key design goals included maximising configuration options, reducing maintenance needs, and delivering visual softness while retaining strong, supportive structure.

The Aura Sofa was designed as a fresh addition to the King Living range, focusing on elegant, curved geometry and modular adaptability. Each module was developed to connect seamlessly using universal joiners (TBC), offering flexible configurations for evolving home layouts. Internally, Postureflex support and KingCell comfort layers ensure long-term durability and comfort. The design eliminates scatter cushions, offering a clean, structured look with minimal upkeep. From early sketch to prototyping, the emphasis remained on creating an inviting form with practical features, including removable covers, replaceable foam and sleek Hugo legs to enhance the sofa’s modern silhouette.

Aura introduces a fresh visual language to King Living’s modular offering—soft, flowing lines with robust, engineered comfort. Socially, it supports healthier, low-maintenance living through ergonomic structure and easy-clean design. Environmentally, it incorporates sustainable practices: removable parts, durable steel framing, and compact packaging. Commercially, it broadens King Living’s market reach with a product that suits a variety of global living environments—from apartments to large homes. Designed with future module additions in mind, it creates a long-term ecosystem of adaptability.
