AirTouch™ N30i Nasal Cradle Mask

Nearly all PAP masks on the market rely on silicone as the primary material. While offering exceptional engineering properties, silicone presents some drawbacks, such as pressure marks and skin irritation for some users. To address these issues, our design team explored alternative materials that provide the same level of performance and durability without compromising user comfort. Once the material was selected, multiple engineering and manufacturing challenges had to be overcome to meet our performance and quality standards.

Building on a strong foundation of user experience, design excellence, and advanced manufacturing technology, our design team developed an innovative solution: integrating fabric into the mask cushion and mask frame. The AirTouch N30i mask, featuring a ComfiSoft cushion and fabric-wrapped frame, is the result of rigorous development, processing, and testing. This innovative solution addresses the challenge by enhancing both perceived and actual comfort. Silicone ensures the same level of performance and durability, while the fabric, which comes into contact with the user, provides comfort. The integration of fabric, a familiar material in bedroom environments where PAP devices are used, increases the mask’s desirability.

AirTouch N30i redefines the perception of comfort and transforms the sleep experience for new and existing PAP users. Based on results from our user trials1 in the United States, the AirTouch N30i performs better than existing silicone PAP masks, showing a major shift in patient preference towards fabric masks over silicone. An impressive 88% of users preferred the AirTouch™ N30i for comfort, 94% favoured fabric over silicone on their face, and 79% preferred the new mask’s visual appeal over their existing mask. With the AirTouch N30i, we aim to set a new benchmark for comfort in PAP masks.

ComfiSoft nasal cradle cushion: Fuses fabric and silicone to create a soft and breathable cushion. Fabric-wrapped SpringFit frame: automatically adjusts to different head shapes. Fully wrapped in soft, breathable, moisture-wicking fabric to keep skin cool and fresh. QuietAir™ diffused vent: designed to be quiet for patients and bed partners. Quick-release elbow: designed to allow users to connect and disconnect the mask from tubing easily when they need to adjust the mask or step away from their PAP device temporarily for bathroom breaks. Reference/Footnote: 1 ResMed conducted an external, 90-day, take-home study of the AirTouch N30i mask with 120 adults who had been on PAP therapy for OSA (≥ 6 months) and were using either the AirFit N30i or DreamWear nasal masks.
