Adesse reimagines the analog clock through a minimalist lens. Adesse achieves this through a subtraction design process, removing numbers and hands to create a sculptural object that reveals only just enough to tell the time. As the clock face rotates, the quarter indices relevant to the hour are slowly revealed.

  • In today’s world, we’re surrounded by far too many distractions pulling us away from appreciating the present moment. Minimalism offers a path back; by stripping away the excess, we uncover what truly matters. Adesse reimagines the traditional analog clock through minimalist principles, questioning what is absolutely necessary to tell the time. Do we really need the numbers? minute hand? hour hand? Designed through subtraction, traditional watch features are removed. A sculptural piece is then carved out of the watch face. The face rotates, covering and revealing just enough to tell the time. Just enough to hold you in the moment.

  • Adesse reads like a one hand clock. From a front on view, one can only see the hour markers, as they are cut deeper, wider, and taller than the quarter markers in the case interior. It is only from a side-on view that the quarter markings (15min, 30min, 45min) between each hour are revealed. As time progresses throughout the day, most of the quarter markers become hidden by the rotating sculptural face. The only quarter markers that are fully revealed are the ones that are relevant to that hour acting as a memento to enjoy the present.

  • In a world of constant distraction, Adesse creates a moment of pause and presence, transforming a familiar clock into a contemplative experience. By revealing only essential time cues, it encourages users to slow down, reduce stress, and engage with the present. Its minimalist, monolithic construction enhances durability, allows for repair, and reduces material use, delivering environmental and social benefits. By combining emotional resonance, functionality, and sustainability, Adesse enriches daily life, builds brand value, and inspires ethical, responsible consumption. It sets a benchmark for design that supports well-being, mindful living, and lasting positive impact.

  • Adesse is innovative in its radical reduction of the analog clock, removing traditional hands and markers to create a sculptural form that tells time through absence. Unlike conventional clocks that add superfluous details, Adesse subtracts, transforming a functional object into an experience of mindfulness and presence. Its unique way of revealing time prompts users to slow down and to become ‘present’. This distinctive approach differentiates the brand by positioning it at the intersection of design, art, and timekeeping, offering users not just a clock, but a contemplative statement piece that embodies a minimalist philosophy.
