  • Wine glassware are traditionally defined by varietal-specific forms or aesthetic conventions, often limiting consistency in how wine is experienced. Denver & Liely identified an opportunity to challenge this model by developing a universal, high-performance glass capable of enhancing a wide spectrum of wines. The challenge was to create a form that could actively influence aroma, aeration and flow, while remaining intuitive and elegant. Achieving this required extensive research, collaboration with leading winemakers and a rigorous testing process to ensure the final design delivered a meaningful advancement in both sensory performance and usability.

  • The Denver & Liely Wine Glass was developed through an iterative process balancing performance and usability. Early prototypes revealed inconsistencies in fin formation, interrupted swirl, structural weaknesses in the stem and variability in rim thickness, requiring continued refinement across multiple stages. Testing focused on aeration performance and consistency, palate delivery, pour accuracy, and structural integrity, supported by custom jigs, lightbox inspection, and repeatable measuring methods. Key developments included refining fin geometry for consistent performance, and adjusting stem thickness to promote durability. The final design resolves these challenges into a cohesive, production-ready solution that consistently enhances user experience.

  • The Denver & Liely Wine Glass establishes a new category of performance-led wine glassware, shifting the experience from passive consumption to active engagement/enjoyment. By integrating aeration and decantation within a single vessel, it refines wine service while enhancing balance and expression, reducing the need for extended decanting. The design reinforces Denver & Liely’s position as a leader in performance-driven glassware, recognised by both industry professionals and discerning consumers. The Denver & Liely Wine Glass’s considered form encourages curiosity and a more deliberate interaction with the wine, contributing to a broader cultural shift toward more intentional, expressive wine appreciation.

  • The Denver & Liely Wine Glass is defined by a series of carefully resolved features that highly prioritise performance while maintaining a refined, considered form. Inspired by a turbine engine, the patented directional fins within the bowl introduce two distinct modes of aeration, allowing the user to influence how the wine develops through directional swirling, with clockwise motion encouraging subtle aeration (slips over fins) and anti-clockwise movement (grabs fins) delivering a more vigorous aeration resulting in a smoother, more integrated expression. The generosity of the bowl promotes natural in-glass decantation, allowing the wine to open up from the first pour, without reliance on additional vessels. A central hub ensures a smooth, controlled pour and serves as a visual reference for a standard 150ml measure, improving usability across both professional and domestic settings.A gently flared rim enhances the glass-to-mouth experience, distributing wine more broadly across the palate to create a softer, more integrated tannins. Hand-blown from lead-free crystal, each piece reflects a high level of craftsmanship, with weight, balance and tactility carefully resolved to create a confident and composed experience in hand.
