  • Harrows identified a gap in open-plan environments between collaborative space and fully enclosed booths. Orbit needed to create a semi-private retreat for focused work and informal meetings without cutting users off from their surroundings. The design also had to soften the hard-edged language typical of workplace pods, feel more residential and inviting, integrate power discreetly, and adapt across education, commercial and co-working settings. A major technical challenge was resolving a curved wall system that remained lightweight, rigid and manufacturable while allowing acoustic treatment, cable routing and future reconfiguration.

  • Harrows resolved Orbit through a modular system of curved and straight wall components built around a precision-machined timber frame. Pressed inner and outer skins created a rigid, lightweight panel with a hollow cavity for concealed services. A removable 100% New Zealand wool acoustic liner houses hidden camlock connections, enabling clean assembly while maintaining a soft, seamless interior. Tool-free removable kickpieces allow power to be routed and accessed where needed. From four core wall elements, the team developed desk and lounge variants across multiple configurations, including 180°, 270° and 360° layouts, giving specifiers flexibility without redesigning the product.

  • Orbit brings a calmer, more human-centered alternative to the conventional office pod, supporting focus, informal meeting and retreat within open-plan environments. Its semi-open circular form maintains connection to the workplace while reducing distraction, helping improve comfort and perceived wellbeing. Commercially, the modular platform broadens specification opportunities across education, workplace and co-working sectors. Environmentally, Orbit’s timber construction, wool acoustic lining and reconfigurable design support durability, adaptability and longer product life. The result is a product that combines aesthetic warmth, practical flexibility and long-term value for clients and users.

  • Orbit’s key feature is its circular modular architecture, which creates enclosure without complete isolation. The range includes desk and lounge variants in 180°, 270° and 360° configurations, allowing individual units or grouped layouts to suit different workplace settings. Curved wall sections are built from precision-machined timber framing with a hollow interior for concealed cable routing, then finished with natural timber veneers and lined in 100% New Zealand wool for acoustic softness. Hidden camlock fixings sit behind removable wool liners, keeping the interior visually calm while simplifying installation and reconfiguration. Tool-free removable kickpieces allow power to travel through panels and exit where required. Conveniently located power and USB charging support everyday use, and desk variants can accommodate monitors. The result is a highly resolved pod system that balances residential warmth, acoustic performance, clean detailing and future flexibility
