  • SJ-Espacer was developed to tackle the dual challenge of operational and embodied carbon emissions in buildings. Operational carbon, stemming from daily energy usage, and embodied carbon, encompassing the lifecycle emissions of building materials, pose significant environmental threats. By integrating louvres into building designs, SJ Espacer optimizes energy consumption, curbing operational carbon by reducing the need for HVAC systems. Simultaneously, it mitigates embodied carbon by utilizing sustainable materials and efficient manufacturing processes. This innovative solution not only cuts costs associated with energy consumption but also fosters sustainable construction practices, promoting a greener future with improved carbon footprints for buildings.

  • In the early design stage, SJ Espacer originated from client feedback and market demand for an Australian-made, large-format louvre. Inspired by the successful SJ Jalousie, it features larger glass louvres and a thermally broken frame to meet façade design and performance needs. With tightening energy regulations and climate concerns, research expanded into low-carbon materials. Collaborating with Hydro, we integrated recycled aluminium Hydro CIRCAL and explored vacuum glazing for enhanced performance. This iterative process ensured SJ Espacer surpassed sustainability goals and delivered superior performance, meeting the evolving demands of environmentally conscious clients and smarter building practices.

  • The new SJ Espacer louvre system offers a comprehensive suite of benefits. Commercially, its sustainable, durable materials promise long-term savings by reducing maintenance costs and energy bills. Environmentally, it enhances energy efficiency, lowering operational carbon and lessening environmental impact. Societally, it provides essential ventilation, improving thermal efficiency and fostering a healthier indoor environment. Overall, it stands as a beacon of sustainable innovation, balancing economic viability with environmental stewardship and societal well-being.

  • Today’s architectural landscape, particularly in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, emphasizes the creation of sustainable, secure, and occupant-centric buildings. In addition to the design, performance, and sustainability features of the SJ Espacer louvre system, its automation options are tailored to address various project requirements and challenges. This solution seamlessly combines the high free flow air, and energy efficient SJ Espacer louvre with cutting-edge building automation technology. These systems, powered by motor-controlled SJ Espacer louvres, offer a dynamic solution for optimizing indoor environments. By seamlessly integrating with sensors and control equipment, the louvres intelligently manage temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, and even respond to external factors like rain. Moreover, they serve as fail-safe mechanisms for critical functions such as fire mode activation, smoke exhaust, stair pressurization, and relief air circulation. Through the automation of the SJ Espacer louvre system, we provide a sophisticated yet user-friendly solution that enhances indoor air quality while simultaneously reducing energy consumption, carbon emissions, and operational costs. In a rapidly evolving architectural landscape, characterised by an increased focus on sustainability and occupant-centric design, the SJ Espacer automation technology aligns with the market’s demand for holistic, health-orientated building solutions.
