Rig-Tig Trivet

RIG-TIG by Stelton is an award-winning kitchenware brand that combines form and function in perfect balance. RIG-TIG means 'just right' in Danish. With an ambition to create a beautiful universe around food preparation and baking, the design challenge was to design a functional trivet sympathetic with the brand values of Scandinavian design philosophies and outstanding functionality.

RIG-TIG's mission is to be the first choice for consumers who seek the combination of design and functionality at an affordable price with low environmental impact. The design solution for this fun and interactive trivet satisfies these parameters. Its versatile design provides a small footprint for easy storage yet can flip open into 2 additional configurations for larger pots and pans. Minimal part count and clever geometry has resulted in a multifunctional trivet at an affordable price point and limited material usage.

The trivet has been designed with disassembly and recycling in mind. Typically, nylon parts are coated prior to insert moulding into silicone parts to create a permanent bond and prevent movement, however in this case, the nylon parts have been designed to be insert moulded without any bonding agents allowing the customer to remove the nylon parts from the silicone rings to ensure both plastics can be fully recycled.
