Flisk

Whisks are notoriously bulky and difficult to store without tangling with other utensils in a drawer or utensil pot. Other designs attempt to solve these problems with a reduced number of whisk wires that rotate in sections, however, fewer wires mean a less efficient whisk and rotating sections require disassembly for cleaning to remove trapped food. The designers aimed to not only produce a collapsible whisk that was easy to clean and store, but also one which performed the task of 3 different whisks without compromising on quality, performance, or the functionality of those 3 distinct forms.

Flisk twists to create 3 whisks from 1 - a large balloon whisk for whipping, a sauce whisk for shallow liquids, and a flat whisk for deglazing. A half turn of Flisk's ergonomic handle manipulates the 10 large, high-vibration wires into 3 distinct forms, enhancing user experience without compromising its efficacy compared to the 3 whisks it replaces. Flisk's wires completely flatten for space-saving, tangle-free storage. This feature also allows the balloon whisk to be easily cleaned by flattening its wires then scraping excess ingredients off on the edge of a bowl, and placing it in the dishwasher without disassembly.

Flisk reduces consumption though good design by providing the user with the functionality of 3 whisks, while only requiring the raw materials, environmental, and financial cost to produce one. All of the plastics used in Flisk's handle are of the same type, facilitating convenient recycling once the product reaches the end of its life. The stainless-steel whisk wires can also be easily recycled. Flisk makes larger collections of more professional grade equipment attainable for those who wouldn't ordinarily be able to store multiple items or afford multiple purchases. Thus, improving the quality of cooking experience for more people.

The number and size of whisking wires is important to the effectiveness of any whisk - directly influencing its efficacy. While many whisks (both folding and regular) choose to use far fewer or smaller wires to improve storage or lower cost, Flisk does not compromise on the whisking performance while eliminating the storage problems associated with large whisks. No other balloon whisk is able to be twisted into other shapes to perform multiple functions, as well as fold flat for storage and easy cleaning, without needing to be disassembled. The innovation of being able to twist each wire individually in order to change the form of the whisk was a particularly satisfying solution to reach. However, the designers took it a step further by housing that mechanism within a handle compact and light enough that is comfortable for the user to grip, and doesn't hinder the efficacy of the product. This was achieved at the same time as ensuring the product would be food-safe and dishwasher-safe by sealing the wires into the handle. This clever combination has never been achieved in a whisk, until now.
