Dairy Australia, as part of its digital strategy, aimed to merge its consumer & education sites into a single destination. The new community website is designed to educate the public on dairy’s role in nutrition, sustainability, and industry impact, while enhancing the experience for consumers, educators, healthcare professionals, and job seekers.

  • The challenge was to design a website that serves a diverse audience with varying needs including teachers, students, jobseekers, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in the health and culinary benefits of dairy. It was crucial to create an engaging, intuitive, and cohesive user experience that made the wealth of content easily accessible and searchable for all visitors. At the same time, the design needed to be modern and fresh, reflecting Dairy Australia's brand while ensuring consistency across all digital touchpoints and resonating with the site's audience.

  • The design solution enhanced Dairy Australia's existing brand, applying strategic color use and thoughtful placement to balance usability while injecting vibrancy to engage their audience. Switch collaborated closely with the Dairy Australia team to develop a purposeful information architecture and page templates that improved content planning, user flow, and content engagement. Throughout the process, the team prioritised usability and accessibility, creating an experience that was intuitive and inclusive for a diverse audience while maintaining consistency with brand and business objectives.

  • The new community website feels modern and fresh, reflecting both the industry and the audience Dairy Australia serves. Its design and language are anchored in trust, accessibility, and purpose. When users arrive, they’re met with an intuitive experience; simple navigation, plain language, and tailored content that speaks directly to their goals, whether they’re schoolchildren, consumers, or industry professionals. The visual design balances warmth and credibility, while responsive components ensure a seamless experience across all devices. The result is a user-friendly, accessible platform that makes it easier for people to connect with Dairy Australia’s content.

  • The project was underpinned by a robust and user-centred design process, ensuring decisions aligned with Dairy Australia’s diverse audience needs and strategic goals. The process began with persona experience mapping to understand distinct user groups and their end-to-end journeys, which informed both functional priorities and content tone. Using these insights, narrative blocking was applied to the information architecture, structuring key pages to reflect the intent and mindset of each audience. This established a clear content hierarchy and purposeful user pathways. Design research and moodboarding enabled exploration of visual and interaction directions, aligning stakeholders early and setting the foundation for concept development. From there, a scalable design system was created, the library of reusable components and patterns that ensured visual consistency, usability, and accessibility across the site. This was complemented by flexible page templates and clear content governance tools, enabling the Dairy Australia team to confidently manage and evolve the site over time. This holistic approach to UX and design ensured the final experience delivered a coherent, inclusive, and future-ready digital experience. Each design feature and process step was intentional, balancing engagement and clarity while supporting Dairy Australia’s long-term digital goals.
