The future of design protection in Australia

Redesigning Designs Forum – Melbourne Design Week 2021

While Australian designers contribute more than $67 billion to the economy each year, design protection is not widely understood or used. The Australian Government is exploring what role intellectual property (IP), especially registered design rights, can and should play to best support the Australian design community.

In this online event, IP Australia will present and discuss findings from their review of the design economy and provide an update on the next steps. This event is for anyone with a stake or interest in the Australian design economy and the role of IP protection in business development and growth.

This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2021, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
