Since its inception in 2001, the Andreu World International Design Contest has become an international showcase of new design talent attracting more than 30,000 contestants from 124 countries, 5 continents and involving some 200 international schools of design and architecture.
The contest aims to promote creativity and innovative design while serving as a forum for the exchange of ideas and marketing in the field of contemporary furniture design. Through the contest, Andreu World provides opportunities for young designers to establish interaction with real work and business contacts.
The Andreu World International Design Contest is currently accepting entries for their 2020 contest with an international jury convening to review the projects this year including Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA The Museum of Modern Art, Paola Antonelli, CEO of Good Design Australia and Senator of the World Design Organization, Dr Brandon Gien, French journalist and curator Chantal Hamaide, renowned Architect Rafael de La-Hoz and French Industrial Designer Philippe Starck.
Year after year the contest’s impact in the field of international design has grown significantly with support from key figures in the design and business world. Last year the Jury attracted high profile design experts including Sheila Loewe (Director of the Loewe Foundation), Marcus Fairs (Founder of Dezeen), Belen Moneo (Architect) and Anders Byriel (CEO of Kvadrat). In previous editions, international architects and designers such as Mario Bellini, Piero Lissoni, Jasper Morrison, Patricia Urquiola, Alfredo Haberli, William Sawaya & Paolo Moroni, Jeffrey Bernett, Carlos Ferrater and journalists such as Robert Thiemann, Anatxu Zabalbeascoa and Cindy Allen among others have participated.
